It’s actually over for 2023 – yay! We made it through another year. By the time you are reading this, it’s October and the Monsoon season of 2023 is officially over.
That doesn’t mean that it won’t be 100+ degrees again but what it does mean is that the threat of heavy or violent rain and storms is pretty much done until next year.
The forecast for the next 7 days shows only one day with a high of 99 , the rest of the days will be in the low 90s. It’s the nightly lows of mid to low 60s that get us excited. It means you can open your windows – yahoo!!
So how was the Monsoon of 2023? Well, according to the National Weather Service Monsoon 2023 was the driest season since they began keeping records back in 1895! We only had 0.15 inches of rain from June 15th to September 30th. The previous low was 0.35 in 1924. Normally we get an average of 2.43 inches of rain during a monsoon season – the national average is about 30 inches!
We also set a record this year with the hottest July temps and the second hottest August and let’s not forget the streak of 31 days with high temps of 110 degrees or higher.
So, residents all over the valley are preparing to turn off Air Conditioners during the evening hours and open windows and enjoy the cool fresh air. Not to mention, giving our pockets a much-deserved break from electrical prices. The next 8 months should be wonderful as we get ready for next June 15th.
Until then……enjoy being
